Edwina rode away with a second-round time of 61.08 seconds, just enough to steal the top spot away from the German veteran Ludger Beerbaum who came in less than half of a second slower, and an impressive four seconds ahead of the Dutch rider Frank Schuttert.

With close times, each of the top three riders had four penalties over the two rounds, which added to the audience's anticipation over who would clinch the top spot and walk away with the first title of its kind.

The 1.25 million showdown took place in front of a sell-out crowd at the O2 Arena in Prague with Edwina’s victorious round was met by a rapturous standing ovation from the excited crowd as she and California seized the top honour.
